Part 1
In my opinion my best photo was of this moss covered log in the park. The diffused lighting created by the cloudy sky combined with the rainy weather helped the moss look very vibrant. The neutral background, depth of field, and contrasting colors draw the viewer's eye to the moss growing through the rotting branch. The most challenging aspect of this assignment for me was finding diverse lighting conditions. I prefer to take most of my photos outside with natural light which is heavily dependent on weather and time of day. This meant that I had to plan ahead to ensure that my subjects would be in the target lighting. In the future I would like to learn how to better keep a subject in focus while shooting at a distance to create a stronger image.
Part 2
Comment on another student's post: "Hi Claire, I really like how you were able to get a clear photo of the bird with a neutral background so that the bird would be the main focus. During the challenge I tried to take multiple photos of birds but could never get a clear shot before they flew to another tree. Including the color version of the photo also showed that turning the photo black and white really enhanced the image.". (Post found here)

Hi Andrew,
I love how the mossy branch is the center of attention because it is closer to the lens. Without the focus being close to the camera, the image would not be as effective. The green of the moss stands out well against the blue and brown hues in the background which is pleasant to look at. I can tell that you spent time choosing the angle and setting everything up, and it paid off.
